In my study time of late, the Lord has pressed upon my heart a very simple, but important truth.  We, as Christians, need to get back to where we should be in our lives.  Romans 3: 23 tells us:

Romans 3:23 KJVR

(23)  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

We are all sinners and we all have the “sin nature” even as Christians.  I know all too well that life can get the best of us sometimes.  We all have obligations in life that need our attention.  We have jobs, families, social and community obligations like fire department, among other things.  I am sad to say that I struggle with this daily.  I am a work in progress just like everyone else.

Let me begin by saying that there is nothing wrong with having obligations and responsibilities in our lives.  But, we must make sure that these things are in their perspective places.  Too many times, as Christians, we have our priorities out of line.  We put our jobs or our family before God.  We can’t be doing this.  The bible is very clear on this point.  Here are some examples:

Exodus 34:14 KJVR

(14)  For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

Matthew 6:24 KJVR

(24)  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

The word mammon used here in Matthew is “wealth.”

Anything that we put before God is a false god in His eyes.  We need to be very careful where our priorities lie.

Please don’t misunderstand me here.  There is a place for other obligations such as family and employment.  These things should not be first on our list.  These things should not get the better part of our attention.  Everything in life has its proper place and to live in the peace that that God has promised us, we must get everything in line where it goes.

It is very easy to get these things out of line.  One can put to much emphasis on ones church and neglect their family or put their job to high up on the list and neglect God and family.  I write from experience on this subject.  I have been so wrapped up in the things of the world that I have neglected my family and my faith.  I have even been so involved in my outreach ministry that I put my family too far down on the list.

Everything in life has its time and place and I pray that we all find the balance that God has intended for us.  The only way that we can find the perfect balance of God’s plan for our lives is to put Him first.  There is no other way to accomplish this.   We must put God on the throne of our lives and use His word as a road map for life.  This is the only way to be in balance and perfect peace in life.  When God is first, everything else falls into place where it is meant to be.

Let us get our priorities back in line and find the perfect peace and balance God has for us.
